Artum helps you identify and learn about artwork — point your camera at a painting to recognize it, pick a photo you already have from your library, or search by title or artist. This page answers common questions. If you need anything else, just email us.

How do I identify an artwork? You have two ways: take a live photo with the camera, or choose an existing image from your photo library. Artum analyzes it and returns the title, artist, year, style, and a short description. For best results, fill the frame with the artwork, avoid glare, and capture it straight-on.
Can I identify a photo I already have? Yes. Instead of using the camera, tap to select a photo from your library — handy for art you photographed earlier, or images saved from elsewhere. The same tips apply: a clear, well-lit, straight-on shot works best.
Can I look something up without a photo? Yes. Use Search to find an artwork by title, artist, or description.
Why didn't it recognize my artwork? Image recognition can struggle with poor lighting, steep angles, glare, or lesser-known pieces. If a scan doesn't land, try Search — it's more reliable than image recognition, so looking the piece up by title or artist will usually get you there. We're also continually improving our recognition algorithms, so results keep getting better over time.
What do the subscription options include? Artum offers a 2-Day Pass and a 7-Day Pass (both one-time, non-renewing — access simply expires) and an Annual Subscription with a 3-day free trial that auto-renews unless cancelled. All purchases unlock full access to recognition, search, narration, and follow-up questions.
How do I cancel? The passes don't need cancelling — they end on their own. For the Annual Subscription, go to Settings → tap your name (Apple ID) → Subscriptions → Artum → Cancel. Access continues until the end of the current period.
How do I get a refund? All purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Is my data private? Yes. Artum doesn't require an account. Images you submit are used to identify the artwork and to help us review and improve recognition accuracy; they aren't linked to your identity. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I send feedback or report a problem? Use the in-app feedback option or email us at [email protected].
